Competition Overview

The Mahally Award celebrates innovative sustainable furniture design by transforming reclaimed wood into high-quality furniture solutions. Applicants are invited to create commercially viable, aesthetically distinctive, and manufacturable products using reclaimed timber that demonstrate creativity, durability, and environmental responsibility.

Approved Material Sources

Primary reclaimed timber shall be sourced from AC Furniture operational sites, including construction timber offcuts, shipping pallets, formwork timber, packaging crates, reclaimed solid pine, salvaged plywood, and recovered hardwood sections.

Material Framework

Designs shall use reclaimed wood as the primary material (minimum 80%), with the optional incorporation of one or two complementary secondary materials that enhance functionality or aesthetics while preserving the product’s sustainable identity.

This initiative promotes circular economy principles by prioritizing material reuse, reducing deforestation, and lowering carbon footprints. Designs must be sustainable, manufacturable, ergonomic, and commercially viable.

The Winners’ Prizes:

  • 1st Winner: 75,000 EGP
  • 2nd Winner: 45,000 EGP
